Most kitchen renovations mean knocking down walls, pulling out old cabinets and installing new floors and countertops. And as expected, this is a sure way to remodel your kitchen space with a whole new look. But if you simply need to give your kitchen a quick refresh, maybe in preparation for some guests, you could take a shortcut and do a few things that will make your kitchen a little less dreary. These include:

Declutter the countertop space

The countertops are most visible surfaces in any given kitchen. And unfortunately, most homeowners have theirs stacked with all manner of clutter such as dishes, storage, groceries, crockery, cutlery, and what not. Doing this makes the kitchen look disorganized. Declutter your countertops and try to keep them as clear and empty as possible. Put everything in storage instead. After all, your countertops are not storage spaces, they are working spaces. The only few items you should leave on your countertops are maybe your coffee maker, your knife set, and the toaster.

Install dish racks for dirty and clean dishes

Dishes all over the kitchen countertops and sink are another common issue in many kitchens. After all, a kitchen is a highly functional space. They are dirty dishes flowing in and clean dishes drying out all the time, especially in a family home. To maintain some order and to keep all the dishes from taking over the kitchen, install two dish racks, one for clean dishes that are drying off and the other for dirty dishes waiting to dry off. These will save space and help keep the sink area clean round the clock.

Introduce some plants to add some freshness

Another trick to makeover your kitchen easily and cheaply is to introduce some plants. Indoor plants are easy to grow and take care of. Choose plants that give off sweet aromas for your kitchen. Good examples include rosemary, lavender, sage, and coriander. You can buy these from the local garden store or you can buy small pots and plant them yourselves. Not only will these plants keep your kitchen smelling good, they will give it a touch of freshness as well.

Add a fruit display for some color

Yet another quick simple trick to add freshness and some color to your kitchen is by having a fruit bowl (or two). You can buy one at any supermarket along with some fruits of course. Some of the best fruits for a fruit bowl are lemons, apples, grapes, bananas, and pineapples. These give off sweet scents that are bound to keep your kitchen smelling tantalizing.

Hang some wall art to hide the bare walls

Last but not least, take the attention away from your drab and plain walls easily by hanging some wall art. You can get cheap but good wall art in most stores. Such wall art will also add more color to your kitchen and make it look a little more chic that it really is.

You can get all this done in a day and with very little money down. Need more ideas? Talk to us here at Kitchen Remodeling Los Angeles for more tips.
